PURPOSE · JANUARY 6, 2021

Give purpose a place in your day.

We often speak about purpose as if it arrives in one dramatic moment. For many of us, it is something we notice gradually—in what draws our attention, what we love doing, and how we can be useful to other people.

A simple purpose chart is one place to begin. On one side, write down the things you love. On the other, write down what you are good at. Pay attention to where they overlap. Do not limit yourself to a job title. Think about the activities that bring out your best and the strengths people already come to you for.

The next question is practical: How could you bring more of that overlap into your routine? You might coach a colleague, spend more time creating, volunteer for a project, or share a skill with someone at home. You do not have to turn your life upside down to take a step toward purpose.

Keep revisiting the chart. Your answer may change as you grow. The work is to notice what makes you feel engaged and find a way to act on it, even in a small moment today.

Today’s MOJO: Name one strength, one thing you love, and one way to bring them together this week.
