Choose we over me.

When I watched The Last Dance, I was struck by the relationship between Michael Jordan, Phil Jackson, and the Bulls. An extraordinary player could change a game. A team that trusted one another could achieve something greater together.

Jackson made room for unconventional ideas and asked players to see their own contribution as part of a larger whole. Everyone had a role. The lesson that stayed with me was the willingness to share the ball and value what each teammate brings.

The same choice shows up at work. We can hold tightly to our own ideas, attention, and credit. Or we can listen, help someone else develop, and make sure the right person is recognized for a win. Team-first leadership does not diminish individual talent. It gives that talent a place to make a wider impact.

Think of someone whose work has made your day easier or your team stronger. Tell them. Then tell someone else. Culture is built through those ordinary acts of trust and generosity.
